Training Programme of FLWs in Angul and Keonjhar

The Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF) in partnership with "Pathfinder International", a global leader in reproductive health operating in 22 countries, conducted training programmes of ASHAs and ANMs in Banarpal, Chendipada, Talcher and Kaniha blocks of Angul District and Banspal, Keonjhar, Hatadihi, Ghatagoan, Patna, Anandpur Block of Keonjhar District during June to September as part of their Raksha Project. A total of 1459 ASHAs and ANMs were trained through this initiative. The overall goal of the training programme was to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity by addressing the three delays that occur during pregnancy at the community level:

  1. Increase awareness among community members on recognition of danger signs;
  2. Improve capacity of community members & community level providers to seek medical care in case of complication:
  3. Increase ability of community members to identify and reach medical facilities for obstetric complications. This training programme will bring benefit to a population of 15 lac through these trained front line workers.
