Sri. Krushna Sabar, a farmer by profession and a social worker by passion, has remarkable contribution in upholding the identity of his Saura Tribe. Sri. Sabar has continued the legacy of his Gurus, Sri Malia Gomango and Sri Mangai Gomango, who gave him a distinct script of the Saura language. Over the years he has laboured to establish the Saura script as a major means of communication. From a small beginning in the villages of Gunupur, he has scaled up education awareness in areas like Padmapur, Ramanaguda and Gudari blocks of Rayagada. Along with leaders of his community, he is engaged in empowering the Saura Tribe of Odisha through education.
Through literacy, Sri. Sabar has started a socio cultural movement by communicating information on critical issues like preventive health, sanitation & hygiene, immunization, malnutrition etc.
After striving relentlessly for15 years, Sri Sabar has succeeded in developing computer software of the Saura Script/ Font which will go a long way in capacity building of the Saura tribe on Life Skill training. His vision of creating an impact beyond Odisha is commendable. Currently he is engaged in reaching out to fellow tribal communities in states like Assam, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
We at the Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation have the proud privilege of recognizing Sri. Sabar as an excellent and innovative social catalyst for his invaluable contribution in the development and empowerment of the Saura Tribe, and confer upon him the Shambhavi Puraskar.
